Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive form of energy healing that balances the mind, body and spirit. Reiki helps to break emotional, mental, physical and spiritual blockages by balancing the Chakras, or energy centers within our bodies, so our life-force energy or chi can flow freely.
When trauma is exhorted on the body; whether being emotional trauma, physical trauma, psychological trauma, etc., we hold that stress in our cellular memory. For instance, people who experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (i.e. military veterans, persons involved in horrific accidents, persons who have been sexually abused, etc.) can be triggered by a normal daily event that immediately sends them back to their time of trauma, creating panic and fear, as though the terrible event were happening in the now. Reiki helps release past trauma on a cellular level; therefore, in turn, Reiki helps our body, mind and spirit heal on a deeper, more profound level.
That being said, Reiki is now being considered as an “energy medicine”; however, since it cannot be measured or scientifically studied like other medicines, it has taken a long time for the Western world to view this energy as a genuine healing modality. Fortunately, medical doctors are infusing Reiki in their daily practices and Reiki is becoming more widely accepted in the medical field, including hospitals.
Doctors, such as Dr. Mehmet Oz, have been really pushing society to recognize the healing power of Reiki energy. Doctors are noticing that Reiki performed on a patient prior to surgery lessens implications during surgery, eliminates post-op depression, and helps speed recovery time. Oncologists, especially, have been encouraging their patients to receive Reiki as part of their treatment while partaking in chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is proven effective and can even cure. Unfortunately, the side-effects of chemotherapy are ghastly; although, while accompanied with Reiki, the side-effects are severely decreased.
The benefits of Reiki are limitless. Whether you want to unwind from your stressful day, release a past trauma, or speed the healing of a broken bone, a Reiki treatment aids in your body’s natural ability to heal. Reiki helps us to release unwanted negative energies and infuses positive, healing energies. Reiki aids us in acquiring a healthy lifestyle because when we are filled with positivity, that positivity exudes us, and we create positivity around us.
